Paul Alden Mvoutoukoulou was born in 1987 in Brazzaville, where he continues to live and work. His artistic journey began in 2006 when he enrolled at the National School of Fine Arts (ENBA). He later taught painting workshops at the Poto-Poto School of Painting and at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Congo (ASAC), enriching his practice through exchanges with established masters.

In 2012, Paul Alden Mvoutoukoulou joined Les Ateliers Sahm, a decisive turning point in his career. There, he discovered contemporary art and the creative possibilities it could open. The same year, he co-founded Art Kituadi, a collaborative creation and exhibition space established with two fellow painters, all members of Ateliers Sahm.

Both multidisciplinary and exploratory by nature, Paul Alden Mvoutoukoulou works as a painter, video artist, installation artist, and graphic designer. Between 2013 and 2019, he presented four solo exhibitions in Paris, Brazzaville, and Pointe-Noire. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions and artist residencies, both in Congo and abroad, constantly pushing the boundaries of his artistic process. From 2008 to 2024, his projects have taken him to Cameroon, Senegal, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Morocco, and France.

Paul Alden Mvoutoukoulou’s work has been featured in more than ten national and international catalogs. In 2023, he was selected among the 21 shortlisted artists for the prestigious Henrike Grohs Art Award.

Paul Alden Mvoutoukoulou’s artistic approach is both authentic and deeply conceptual. Using pharmaceutical blister packs as his primary material, he maps spaces, narratives, and social realities, highlighting the urgent issues that shape humanity today. His series Mystère du COVID-19 powerfully reveals the core of his work: reflecting on modernity, its opportunities, and its inherent risks.
